Digital Photography - Review Of Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ50

!: Digital Photography - Review Of Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ50

Panasonic has presented a new digital camera Lumix DMC -TZ50 which promises to share your photos through wireless communication. Nice isn't it? But it costs you a few more bucks. Looking at its other features we come to know of the following facts. It has an effective 9.1mega pixel CCD, 10X optical zooming capability, optical image stabilizer. It also has a compact body, a 3 inch LCD display and above all the built in Wi-Fi which helps to upload your snaps to picasa for later management. If you own this masterpiece then you don't need to remove the red eye by wasting your time, but the camera does it for you automatically.

This is not all. The point and shoot task having automatic selection of scenes is an addition of features. This camera automatically brightens the under exposed areas of the photograph. It has all the memory slots you need from SD, SHDC to MMC, in addition to the 50 MB onboard memory. Now moving on to the battery life it is suggested that this camera provides 300 shots per charge.

There arises a doubt why not Sony Cyber-shot DSC-W150 it offers 400 shots, the canon power shot SD 890 IS that gives about 320 shots per charge. The new Nikon cool pix P80 gives you a 10.1 effective mega pixel CCD, 18X optical zooming, a sport continuous mode that allows you take 30 shots in a row at 13 fps, 50 MB onboard and 250 shots per charge.

Choice is definitely yours. It is a good idea to go through many reviews before you buy something new.

Hobbies For The Tech-Savvy Male

!: Hobbies For The Tech-Savvy Male

This article is about 2 interesting hobbies for the technical minded person. These hobbies are also more popular with boys and men, rather than with girls and women.

The hobbies that are popular with modern tech savvy males are as the following:

1. Robot building. This is for the engineer and creator in all of us (males). Many of us are inspired by androids and robots such as R2D2 and C3PO from Stars Wars fame. Some of us are inspired by more modern icons such as the irobot. This hobby allows the hobbyists to assemble a robotic brainchild for scratch. Typically, the parts consist of mechanical, electrical and electronic components. Some of the more complex and advanced ones come also with programming languages and software. These software become the artificial intelligence of our robotic creations. One of the most popular line of product for the hobby of Robot Building is Lego Mindstorm. Lego Mindstorm comes with an incredible array of parts, kits and components. This allows the hobbyist to come up with many combinations of robotic creations.

2. Remote Control Helicopters. This is an expensive hobby for rich boys and men. It is popularly known as RCH for short. There are several different classes of helicopters. The complexity of the helicopters are determined by the number of channels that they can receive. The aircrafts can also differ greatly in terms of size too. Most hobbyists hang out in local Remote Control Helicopter communities and clubs. Those are the places where they can share information and tips about their favorite hobby.

Well these are just 2 tech hobbies for males. There are many more. I will talk about them some time later. Thanks for reading.

Prices for the New Lumix GF2 Kits

!: Prices for the New Lumix GF2 Kits

Are you looking to purchase a new camera? If so, you may wish to wait until January of 2011 when Panasonic releases the new Lumix GF2. Early reviews say this camera is a major improvement over its predecessor in a number of areas. Not only is it smaller and lighter, but is also has a Live MOS sensor that ensures your pictures will be better than ever. Although no official price has been listed on the Panasonic website, many reviewers have already addressed this issue. Here is what they are saying about the upcoming Lumix GF2 prices.

If you are looking to purchase the Lumix camera with a 14mm 2.5 pancake lens, expect to pay around 599.99 euros for this item. This kit comes with the camera body as well as the LUMIX G 14mm/F2.5 ASPH lens. This lens features the micro four thirds mount and has a minimum aperture of F22. As competition will be intense when this camera is first released, you may be able to get a better deal though. This price is only what reviewers have estimated it will be.

If you decide to upgrade to the Lumix GF2 kit with a 14-42 standard kit zoom, then you may be asked to pay 629.99 euros for this particular model. The lens on this model is the LUMIX G VARIO 14-42mm/ F3.5-5.6 ASPH./ MEGA O.I.S. You will get the same camera body, but will get the versatile lens if this is more to your liking. This lens is the equivalent of a 35mm camera lens with a range of 28mm to 84 mm.

For those who want a variety of options at time of purchase, you can choose to go with the Lumix camera package which includes the camera body along with both of the above mentioned lenses. This kit will set you back 729.99 euros. As you can see, the Lumix GF2 should be a hot item with all who wish to obtain a new camera as this small device has so many features. Again, this should be good for the consumer as Lumix GF2 prices will drop as competition among retailers increases. This may be just what you need to get a great camera at an amazing price.

Panasonic Lumix DMC FX40 Review

!: Panasonic Lumix DMC FX40 Review

The Panasonic Lumix DMC FX40 is up against some pretty stiff competition when it comes to pocket sized digital cameras. To try and make the Lumix DMC FX40 stand out from the crowd Panasonic has included an ultra wide angle lens. A wide angle lens helps you squeeze more of a wide scene into a photo. So this could be a big attraction to you if you like to take a lot of sweeping landscape shots or groups of people.

As with other cameras in this series you can increase the amount of zoom available if you are prepared to shoot at lower resolutions. Doing this will save space on the memory card and can also increase the quality of the pictures you take.

Another big attraction aside from the ultra wide zoom lens could be the High Definition movie mode. Although I would not claim that this can fully replace a camcorder, you cannot zoom in and out while recording for a start, this can come in handy if you want to fire off the occasional movie clip without carrying your camcorder around with you.

With dimensions of 95.3 x 52.9 x 21.5mm the Lumix DMC FX40 will fit into most pockets without much of a problem. Panasonic has created black, silver and red versions. In terms of design I would describe it as a simple, unfussy camera. It has a smooth, matt finish. This helps to give the camera a feeling of quality. It weighs 128g without a battery or memory card. This makes it one of the more lightweight digital cameras.

I found this camera easy to use. Just how complicated you find it depends to a large degree on how many of the features you plan to take advantage of. The menu runs to three and a half pages, with an additional set up menu. Items such as the resolution, focusing mode and white balance are changed through the menu system. So it is possible you will not feel the need to delve into the menu too often. When you do you should find it a simple task to find the setting you wish to change, even if you need to scroll through a few screens first.

On the back of the Lumix DMC FX40 in the top right hand corner is a control dial. You use this to change the shooting mode. For example you use the dial to place the camera in macro mode. The camera also has an iA mode. This stands for intelligent auto. In this mode the camera will check for common types of photograph such as a landscape scene and set the controls accordingly to take the best possible picture. This mode is worth testing out, but it most situations I have not noticed any significant difference in picture quality between this mode and the general automatic mode.

The Lumix DMC FX40 certainly takes bright, colourful photos, but I must admit to being a little disappointed with the sharpness of the more distant shots I took. This softness becomes increasingly noticeable as you move away from the centre of the shot. I have noticed this with the previous model in this series as well. This is not up to the usual high standard set by Panasonic. It may not be a problem with snapshot sized prints, but it will become noticeable with larger print sizes.

There are 40 megabytes of storage space built into the Panasonic Lumix DMC FX40. This sounds a reasonable amount, but if you are shooting at the full 12 megapixel resolution this only provides enough space for around 8 photos.

Panasonic Lumix DMC FS6 review

!: Panasonic Lumix DMC FS6 review

The Panasonic Lumix DMC FS6 is a pocket digital camera. At 8 megapixels it has fewer megapixels than most of the other digital cameras launched in the spring of 2009. Oddly enough I think this may work to its advantage. With fewer megapixels packed on to the tiny sensor you often find better definition and detail in the photographs a camera is able to produce.

With a 4x zoom lens you have a little extra zoom power when compared to the most basic digital cameras. You can increase the amount of zoom available a little if you reduce the number of megapixels you shoot at. I like the flexibility this adds to the Lumix DMC FS6. After all you only need a small percentage of the available pixels if you are looking to make snapshot sized prints. Around 4 megapixels should give you enough quality for 5 x 7 inch prints.

When it comes to features the Lumix DMC FS6 has most of the buzz features that have started to show up over the last 18 months. These include image stabilisation and face detection technology. This can help to produce sharper looking portraits that are exposed correctly. There is also an intelligent auto mode. This includes shake detection, motion detection and scene detection. Scene detection matches the photo you are taking against a number of scenes built into the memory bank inside the camera. If a match is found, the camera will use the associated settings in an attempt to take the best possible photograph. It is strange though how quickly technology moves on. This camera has a 2.5 inch LCD screen. Not so long ago this would have been considered a large screen size. Now when I look at it against 2.7 inch or 3 inch screens it looks to be on the small side.

Although there is no high definition movie mode you do get a choice of aspect ratios. You can choose between shooting movies for playback on a widescreen television set or on a Computer screen. Optical zoom can be applied to a movie before shooting starts. Once shooting is in process zoom is locked in and cannot be changed.

In the specification Panasonic are claiming a battery life of up to 400 shots in between charges. These improvements are down to a mixture of improved battery technology and lower energy use by the camera. A battery and charger are supplied with the camera as standard.

I also like the layout of the menu system. It is really just a Case of scrolling through the menu options until you find the one you are looking for. The black text on a white background helps to make the menu relatively easy to read too.

As is becoming the standard the Lumix DMC FS6 comes in a selection of colours. These are black, silver, red, blue and pink. In terms of looks there is an unfussy, almost plain design, although I personally like the way Panasonic digital cameras look. You should have no problem fitting the camera into smaller pockets.

The Lumix DMC FS6 comes in at the cheaper end of the pocket camera market. Looking through my test photos I am impressed by the over all quality they offer. It all depends on what you are looking for and just how important ultimate quality is to you, but for me this camera ticks most of the right boxes. Aside from start up times which are slower than standard I find it hard to find fault with this camera. With the prices of digital cameras rising this spring in the U.K. the Panasonic Lumix DMC FS6 offers very good value for money.
